The Boston Red Sox are World Champions.

Again.

YESSS!

Yankees suck.

Enough said.

End of an ERA 10267-2137-046

The class of ‘07 has officially graduated.

It’s going to be a big change at Haileybury without them, as they are without a doubt probably the best of the three year levels at the moment (certainly better than the year 10’s, and probably a lot better than the year 11’s too).

The biggest change obviously is in the Performing Arts side of things, with almost the entire Tech Crew graduating, except for a small number of us. With noone in year 11 to do anything (apart from Sancho), hopefully we can step up and attempt to fill the massive gap that has been left.

I’ve said it before, but let me say it again;
It’s been a fantastic year, and it has been an absolute pleasure knowing all of the year 12’s, and I hope they do well in all their exams and everything else that follows in their lives. They have made a huge impact at the school, and they won’t be forgotten for a long while.

On a lighter note, the Red Sox have made the World Series (the best of 7-game ‘Grand Final’ of baseball, hence the ‘Series’); and are 2 games up on the Colorado Rockies. We absolutely blew them away yesterday (13-1), and today we beat them in a very close game (2-1). Beckett threw an absolute gem again yesterday, bringing his ERA (Earned Run Average) down to about 1.1 (Bloody good).

The series moves to Colorado on Sunday (our time) where Matsuzaka lines up for the start.

All in all, it has been a very good year, and I’m looking forward to year 11 (which starts on Monday).

And that is that,

The End.

P.S. My timetable works out so I get a QUINTUPLET of histories on Fridays (Double World History, then Double Revs, Then Revs Lecture..) Ouch.

I think Frank Sinatra’s “My Way” put it best (and rather fittingly);

“And now, the end is near, and so I face, the final curtain…
My friends, I’ll say it clear, I’ll state my case, of which I’m certain…

I’ve lived a life that’s full, I’ve travelled each and every highway,
But more, much more than this, I did it my way…”

It might not be the end of their lives, but it is sure the end of a defining chapter of them.

As you all know, the Class of ‘07 graduates on Thursday (Except the girls, who graduate tomorrow); which marks the end of a long run for them. It’s been a nostalgic week, with many of us not really sure what the future holds, and reminiscing the good times we’ve had together.

Over the last year I’ve grown to know them really well, and it’s going to be a real shock to see them leave;

I wish you all well in your upcoming exams, and then onwards into your futures - whatever they may be, but most of all, rest assured,

Guys, you will be sorely missed.

Well,

As I said, Halo 3 was launched on Tuesday, and after all the hype, it has turned out to be great!! It was a fantastic end to the series, although there is still Halo Wars and a project by Peter Jackson to come, so that should be fun. All in all, the campaign was great (although rather short), and the multiplayer is top-notch..

In other news,

I had another MRI on Monday, and saw the surgeon yesterday, and he said he was happy with my progress, and I should be relatively alright in about 6 months.. He brought in this Doctor from Adelaide, and he was taking photos of the MRI’s with his cell phone… I kinda got the feeling that it was something that doesn’t come around often, and then the surgeon was saying how it was rare, and that they ‘Did their best’, and that really helped to calm me down…

It should turn out alright though, but I most likely won’t be able to play winter sport, as all the sports consist of kicking something, or hitting a ball around your feet, or running.

And that is that,

The End.

Holidays and Halo 9237-1200-43

Auf Wiedersehen Jahr 10, До свидания год 10,

Goodbye Year 10.

If not ‘officially’ in Year 11, it’s about as close to it as you can get.

Exams finished two days ago with Legal Studies (Which went rather well, I think), and now we’re on holidays.
They are such a welcome break, and came not a week too soon.

On another note,

Since it was announced at E3 last year, I’ve been counting down the days to the release of Halo 3, which is launched globally on Tuesday.
Needless to say, that it’s going to be HUGE.

At the moment, I’m watching “Runaway Jury” which is actually pretty good..

Sorry for the short post, but I’m kinda tired, but I’ll repost on Tuesday about the launch..

And that is that,

The End.

I Dub Thee… 9207-1636-042

It has been a very long week.

Exams are almost over, with only Legal left to go (session 2 tomorrow), and all I can say is:

… Good. (What, you were expecting something else??)

Overall the exams have been pretty good actually, English and Science were alright; Math was a pain in the ass (But I found out today that I finished top of the class… Omg.); Politics and History today were great, with both of them almost completely based on the Cuban Missile Crisis (for which I have done no fewer than 4 presentations and outcomes on throughout the year), so they turned out fantastic.

As I said, Legal is tomorrow, but that’s my best subject so I should do relatively allright…

On to other news…

Tuesday I headed into the city to do some business, whereby we lodged my change of name papers. It’s amazing how much paperwork is needed to make sure I am who I say I am, and parent’s consent and it was even messier because Mam’s name isn’t the same as Dad’s, and even messier because she’s not an Australian citizen, so it’s a relief to get it all done. So now that it’s all done, I am now officially Stephen Hunter.

(Those of you who call me Monkey, feel free to keep calling me it)

All in all a rather interesting week.

And that is that,

The End.

DEFINATELY OVERDUE POST 9147-2017-041

WOAH it’s been a while, hasn’t it?

Lots has happened in the last few weeks, I’ll try and remember most of it though…

Can’t remember that far back, so I’ll start with last Saturday. As you all know (or here), Dr. Pargetter passed away almost four weeks ago, and last Saturday was his memorial service. There was a massive amount of work put into it, with almost the entire cast of “Fame”, the choir, and many others performing tributes to his life. There were many speeches from colleagues and friends, and overall, it was a very special occaision. It did seem that we overestimated the amount of people attending (still, better be safe than sorry), with the Gym and Chapel not being used. The Hall was 95% full however, and there were a few people in the foyer and quad. The processional music was “I Vow to Thee, My Country” from “Jupiter” which I thought was really nice. The cast sung “Bring on Tomorrow” which was very fitting, since in the musical it is sung as a memorial to Carmen, and it was very nicely done as well. The senior combined choir sang “Hallelujah” also, but definately the most memorable was “Jerusalem”. Throughout the service, side-stage was silent, even during the other songs, but during “Jerusalem”, everyone was softly singing it, kind of as a personal memorial to Pargie. The song he wrote (“We are Haileybury”) was also sung by the choir, which was very nice as well.

Overall it was a very nice service, which will be remembered for a long time.

So long, Pargie.

Moving on,

This week has been a very bittersweet one. One one hand, it is fantastic that we’re finishing year 10, and the excitement of Unit 3-4’s are there; but also it’s quite saddening to see the year 12’s go. Over the last year that I (and the other year 10’s) have known them, they have been amazingly knowledgeable, and we’ve learnt a heap from them, and have always been inviting and fun to work with. It’s going to be a massive shock from next term (there’s still 3 and a bit weeks until graduation), when they are gone, and no doubt, they will be sorely missed.

Exams (well the 1-2’s and the 3-4 trial ones) started yesterday, with English and Science right off the bat. I think I did really well on the English one, with the topic I was banking everything on, actually being on the exam. It was an analysis of how George Clooney made “Good Night and Good Luck” historically authentic. If you’ve seen the film, you’ll know that there is an abundance of things to write about on the topic. The second part was an analysis question about an article on child obesity. It wasn’t too bad, and there were a heap of different language techniques I could refer to. The final part I just had to respond to his article from the point of view of a dietician, and I basically restated everythign he said by going “I agree with Dr Walker when he said <insert argument here>” a few times. Overall I was very happy with my performance, and I think I should get a pretty good mark on it.

The Science exam this morning was fairly average. I reckon I blitzed the Electronics part of the exam, and did alright on the Chemistry part; but I seriously think I screwed up badly on the Biotech part. All this stuff on Diploid/Haploid, Genotype/Phenotypes and the such got me fairly rattled, and I’d be surprised if I got anything over about 40% on it. I think that I passed the exam pretty comfortably, but I’m not holding my breath.

Monday and Wednesday are my Math exams, and towards the end of the week I’ve got Politics, History and Legal… Three subjects that are very ‘definition and word-heavy’. But I do enjoy them, so they shouldn’t be so bad.

That seems to be all for this post, I think it’s fairly up-to-date now, and I’ll update again sometime in the next week or so…

And that is that,

The End.

Best. Movie. Ever.

That’s all I have to say about “The Bourne Ultimatum”.

I’ve been waiting with massive expectations for months since it was announced, and it lived up to them all the way through. From the evading the authorities in London, to fighting an assassing in Tangier, to calling the Deputy Director of the CIA from his own office, to the flashbacks to his training; it was fantastic all the way through.

If you haven’t seen it yet, GO SEE IT!!!

On other news,

It’s now the weekend, and I’m looking forward to some much needed rest. School’s stepped up the workload in the last week, and I’ve got 5 Outcomes due within the next 4 (school) days. History’s easy though, because the topic I’m doing for my presentation is one I did in Politics 4 months ago. (Cuban Missile Crisis).

And that is that,

The End.

Imperial March 8317-1021-039

It’s been a hectic week so far, with Sports Pres and the such…

Last night was Sports Pres, which was a heap shorter than the last one; it only went for 90-odd minutes. It was pretty boring, but it gave me a chance to get my Legal Outcome done for today, which was ironically postponed until Tuesday.

I’m currently in Legal at the moment, but this will be a shorter post than normal because the bell for recess is about to go…

And that is that,

The End.
