It’s that time of year again!!!
(Okay, that’s my nostalgic, BossToneS reference out of the way, I doubt anyone will get it, but if you do; High Five!)
Holidays are underway, and they’ve been pretty good so far.. I’ve been to the movies, built a…. something, and played a lot of Xbox 360. Other than that, I haven’t been up to much, basically just taking advantage of the lack of uniformity and being able to wing it.
I don’t have much planned across the next 6 weeks other than my uncle coming out from the Middle East for christmas. Speaking of which, the Ice skates which I ordered for christmas are currently in Salt Lake City, UT; and arrive in Whitefish, MT within a day or two. After that, it should only be around 3-4 days for them to arrive here. Go saving 1000$ via purchasing overseas!
And that is that,
The End.

Well it’s now the holidays, and all I can say is good. They are so welcome right now, as I am completely sick of doing work, and I desperately need a break.
It was my birthday (16) on Monday, it was great fun, I got 3 QT Films (Pulp Fiction + The two “Kill Bill’s”); 3 CDs (MOS Annual + Chillouts; Spice Girls’ New album); Alias season 3; and a Leatherman. I also passed my “L’s” test, and am now on the road (Scary, Innit?). Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday were the three Campuses Speech Nights, I opped (Funny that) the Berwick one, and it was so damn boring. I hear from Pant and Luke that the other two nights were equally as bad, although last night evidently was quite funny with Acting Principal Dwyer welcoming everyone to the ‘Edrington’ (That’s in inverted commas because we all know it is Berwick, not ‘Edrington’) Speech Night rather than the Castlefield one….
Today (Yesterday, as I’m writing this at 0015) was the Girls House Performing Arts and it was pretty darned bad. The Drama sucked (Apart from one or two standout performances - Ie Kate’s Ministry of Silly Walks), and the Music was horrible. Two of the Dances weren’t too bad, especially Edrington’s (the house, not the campus). Still, beats running.
Right at the moment, Nat’s playing Sam on Top Spin 2; and It’s so late that I can’t remember what I did before it…. Oh well.
Got a lot of holidays homework that should keep me busy (Don’s given me 2/3 of the years work to do in the hols), which isn’t too bad, and I plan to spend a lot of my time getting back to my usual level of skating (Especially once my skates arrive from the US for christmas).
And that is that,
The End.

“THE BRITISH ARE COMING!!!”
Okay, so not quite, but that cry from the 1700’s (at a time where the British were known as ‘tyrants’ throughout the US) is still applicable today…. Although swap ‘British’ for ‘Unions’.
Today is the last chance to save ourselves from the onslaught of Labor governments at every level. The electorate are finally starting to realize what they have in store for them with a Union-led Commonwealth government, but it might be too late. Do what needs to be done, and DO NOT vote for Labor (This is in particular to those over 18, as I am ineligible to vote…). They have shown time and time again that they are NOT good economic managers, they CANNOT keep employment down, they CANNOT keep taxes down and among others, they support industrial actions.
The coalition has kept the economy in check (WOAH, interests rates at 6.75%!!!! Forget that it’s the lowest in 15+ years, it’s 6.75%!!!! OMG!!!), has kept unemployment at record lows (And is on track to break 3% - one of the lowest in the world; behind only Switzerland, I think..) and they have kept the rate of industrial actions at the lowest levels since Labor was in power.
Don’t trust the Labor party with the economy, because three years is a long time to take to realize that you made a really bad mistake.
On another note, my Legal SAC was yesterday (I technically had the option of doing it on Monday, but I thought that my 15 pages of revision for a 30 minute - 5 question SAC was more than adequate) and it went exceedingly well. There wasn’t a single question on the SAC that I couldn’t write double the amount of points I needed, and I reckon that I would have scored at least a 97% (Yes, I’m modest:p).
On a final note, Don’t vote Labor (Much less the Greens), as there is a reason they call it the Soviet “Union”.
And that is that,
The End

Grandad,
You watched me grow up through the years, with all my antics - and you always were there for me. You were always there for encouragement and acknowlegement, through the best times, and through the worst. You have always been one of the biggest influences in my life, and I hope that I do you proud.
You left us much too soon, but I’ll always remember your stories, your remarks, and your mischevous comments. But above all, I will always remember you. The larger than life figure that was always caring, loving and kind.
There is no measure to the devastation that I felt since your passing, but I am just glad that I got to say everything that I meant to before it happened. You’ve been sick for some time now, but there is no way to prepare for the sadness and grief that it causes.
Grandad - Barry, I will forever miss seeing you, miss hugging you, miss sharing all those moments that you always seem to take for granted; The Birthday’s, the Christmas’s, the watching of the Cricket on a Saturday afternoon.
I will always love you, and I will always remember you.
Il nome suo nessun saprà!…
e noi dovrem, ahime, morir!
Nessun Dorma, Nessun Dorma.
For the last two weeks, I am officially a Sophomore.
(Yes, I know that it’s a college term, but since school is H’bury College, I thought that it would be fitting)
School has being going great, with all my 3/4s going exceptionally well. Legal, Revs and Music are great, with the 1/2s trailing behind…
Tech has been pretty average, with the usual information nights etc, although the junior speech nights are coming up, so that will be a real bugger. Can’t the stupid campuses put on their own speech nights??? Berwick builds a brand new hall, only to come to Aikman to do their speech nights!!! Cut it back to just Middle School, and you will fit!
Got a legal SAC coming up this week; It’s meant to be a really easy one (It’s evidently only 30 minutes), but still, it counts towards VCE…
In the entertainment side of things, Death Proof came out the other week, and it was bloody awesome!! Best Quentin Tarantino movie since Pulp Fiction. Hitman comes out on Thursday, and I’m hoping to organize some people to go see it with me on opening night, it looks like it could be one of the best movies of the year (In my opinion).
”Australia Votes ‘07″ is coming up next weekend, and I’m banking on a late run to the gate by the Coalition. I can think of only one thing worse than Kevin Rudd being in power, and that is Julia Gillard whispering in his ear (and squillions of union members whispering in hers). So, if you’re eligible to vote, read the following instructions.
How to complete the ballot paper
To vote for a Member of the House of Representatives, an elector is required to write the number ‘1’ in the box next to the candidate who is their first choice - in this case, the LIBERAL or NATIONAL candidate, and the numbers ‘2’, ‘3’ and so on against all the other candidates, in order of the elector’s preference (with LABOR last, and the GREENS second-to-last).
Ballot papers which are not marked according to the rules for voting are called informal votes. Ballot papers cannot be counted if they are informal.
Polling officials at the polling place are available to assist you in completing your ballot paper. Remember, if you make a mistake on a ballot paper (Ie Voting LABOR for anything higher than last) you may return it to the polling official who issued it to you and receive a fresh one.

^^^ REMEMBER, Liberal/National 1st, Labor last.
And that is that,
The End.

The Boston Red Sox are World Champions.
Again.
YESSS!
…
Yankees suck.
Enough said.
The class of ‘07 has officially graduated.
It’s going to be a big change at Haileybury without them, as they are without a doubt probably the best of the three year levels at the moment (certainly better than the year 10’s, and probably a lot better than the year 11’s too).
The biggest change obviously is in the Performing Arts side of things, with almost the entire Tech Crew graduating, except for a small number of us. With noone in year 11 to do anything (apart from Sancho), hopefully we can step up and attempt to fill the massive gap that has been left.
I’ve said it before, but let me say it again;
It’s been a fantastic year, and it has been an absolute pleasure knowing all of the year 12’s, and I hope they do well in all their exams and everything else that follows in their lives. They have made a huge impact at the school, and they won’t be forgotten for a long while.
On a lighter note, the Red Sox have made the World Series (the best of 7-game ‘Grand Final’ of baseball, hence the ‘Series’); and are 2 games up on the Colorado Rockies. We absolutely blew them away yesterday (13-1), and today we beat them in a very close game (2-1). Beckett threw an absolute gem again yesterday, bringing his ERA (Earned Run Average) down to about 1.1 (Bloody good).
The series moves to Colorado on Sunday (our time) where Matsuzaka lines up for the start.
All in all, it has been a very good year, and I’m looking forward to year 11 (which starts on Monday).
And that is that,
The End.

P.S. My timetable works out so I get a QUINTUPLET of histories on Fridays (Double World History, then Double Revs, Then Revs Lecture..) Ouch.
I think Frank Sinatra’s “My Way” put it best (and rather fittingly);
“And now, the end is near, and so I face, the final curtain…
My friends, I’ll say it clear, I’ll state my case, of which I’m certain…I’ve lived a life that’s full, I’ve travelled each and every highway,
But more, much more than this, I did it my way…”
It might not be the end of their lives, but it is sure the end of a defining chapter of them.
As you all know, the Class of ‘07 graduates on Thursday (Except the girls, who graduate tomorrow); which marks the end of a long run for them. It’s been a nostalgic week, with many of us not really sure what the future holds, and reminiscing the good times we’ve had together.
Over the last year I’ve grown to know them really well, and it’s going to be a real shock to see them leave;
I wish you all well in your upcoming exams, and then onwards into your futures - whatever they may be, but most of all, rest assured,
Guys, you will be sorely missed.
